Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
HAS NEWS OF the Overpowering Event reached you? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated, 2 labouring, weary, 3 they shall enter a burning Fire 4 Given to drink of a spring fiercely boiling. 5 No food for them save the bitterness of dry thorns, 6 Which doth not nourish nor release from hunger. 7 [And] some faces will on that Day shine with bliss, 8 well-pleased with their striving. 9 in a sublime Garden, 10 hearing there no babble; 11 Within it is a flowing spring. 12 Therein are thrones raised high, 13 And drinking-cups ready placed, 14 and cushions arrayed in rows, 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 So do they not see the camel – how it has been created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And at the mountains - how they are erected? 19 And how the earth was outstretched? 20 Therefore do remind, for you are only a reminder. 21 and are not invested with the authority to compel them. 22 But whoever will turn away (from the Truth), 23 will be punished by God with the greatest punishment. 24 Surely to Us is their return; 25 Then it will be for Us to call them to account. 26
