The chiefs of Pharaoh's people said: Lo! this is some knowing wizard, 109 who seeks to drive you from your land what do you command' 110 They said (unto Pharaoh): Put him off (a while) - him and his brother - and send into the cities summoners, 111 To bring each knowing wizard unto thee. 112 And the sorcerers came unto Pharaoh [and] said: "Verily, we ought to have a great reward if it is we who prevail." 113 He said, “Yes, and you will then become close to me.” 114 They said, “O Moosa! You may throw first – or shall we be the first to throw?” 115 He said, “You throw”; when they threw, they cast a magic spell upon the people’s eyes and terrified them, and they brought a great magic. 116 And we revealed unto Musa: cast down thy rod. And lo! it was swallowing up that which they had feigned. 117 ۞ Thus the Truth prevailed and their false art was banished. 118 And thus were they vanquished there and then, and became utterly humiliated. 119 and the sorcerers prostrated themselves, 120 They said, “We have accepted faith in the Lord Of The Creation.” 121 The Lord of Musa and Haroun. 122 Said Pharaoh: "Believe ye in Him before I give you permission? Surely this is a trick which ye have planned in the city to drive out its people: but soon shall ye know (the consequences). 123 "I will have your hands and feet on alternate sides cut off, and have you all crucified." 124 They said: Lo! We are about to return unto our Lord! 125 for thou takest vengeance on us only because we have come to believe in our Sustainer's messages as soon as they came to us. O our Sustainer! Shower us with patience in adversity, and make us die as men who have surrendered themselves unto Thee!" 126
