Tell them the story of Abraham, 69 When he said unto his father and his people: what worship ye? 70 They said, 'We serve idols, and continue cleaving to them. 71 He said: "Do they listen to you when ye call (on them)?" 72 "Or do you good or harm?" 73 They said: Nay, we found our fathers doing so. 74 He said, 'And have you considered what you have been serving, 75 Ye and your forefathers! 76 They are enemies to me except the Lord of all the Worlds 77 “The One Who created me, so He will guide me.” 78 And Who feedeth me and watereth me. 79 And when I sicken, then He healeth me, 80 And Who causeth me to die, then giveth me life (again), 81 and whom I am eager shall forgive me my sins on the Day of Recompense' 82 My Lord, bestow wisdom upon me; unite me with the righteous; 83 And ordain for me a goodly mention among posterity 84 “And make me among the inheritors of the Gardens of serenity.” 85 “And forgive my father* – he is indeed astray.” (His paternal uncle) 86 and disgrace me not on the Day when people will be raised to life, 87 on the Day of Judgment when neither wealth nor children will be of any benefit 88 [and when] only he [will be happy] who comes before God with a heart free of evil!" 89 When Paradise shall be brought near to the God-fearing 90 And the hell shall be made manifest to the erring ones, 91 It shall be said to them, 'Where is that you were serving 92 other than Allah? Do they help you or even help themselves' 93 Then will they be hurled therein, they and the seducers 94 and the hosts of Iblis, all together. 95 And they will say, and they will be quarrelling in it: 96 By Allah! we were certainly in manifest error, 97 when we deemed you [false deities] equal to the Sustainer of all the worlds 98 And none has brought us into error except the Mujrimun [Iblis (Satan) and those of human beings who commit crimes, murderers, polytheists, oppressors, etc.]. 99 Now we have no intercessors, 100 Nor any loving friend. 101 Would that we had a second chance [in life,] so that we could be among the believers!" 102 Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 103 Verily your Lord is mighty and merciful. 104
