Verily this is a Revelation from the Lord of the Worlds: 192 The Trustworthy Spirit has brought it down 193 Upon your heart (O Muhammad SAW) that you may be (one) of the warners, 194 in clear Arabic speech. 195 And verily it is in the Scriptures of the ancients. 196 Is it not a sign to them that the learned men of the Israelites know it? 197 And if we had revealed it to any of the foreigners 198 And he had recited it unto them, they would not have believed in it. 199 Even so, We have caused it to enter into the hearts of harmdoers: 200 they shall not believe in it until they see the painful punishment 201 so that it will come upon them suddenly, while they are unaware, 202 Then will they say: "Can we be given respite?" 203 What! do they still seek to hasten on Our punishment? 204 Think! If We let them enjoy life for some years, 205 And then there came to them that which they were promised? 206 none of their luxuries will be able to save them from the torment? 207 And We destroyed no township but it had its warners 208 By way of admonition, and We have never been oppressors. 209 And the devils have not brought the revelation down. 210 They are unworthy of it, nor can they do it. 211 Indeed they are debarred from even hearing it. 212 So do not invoke with Allah another deity and [thus] be among the punished. 213 And warn your near relations, 214 And lower your wing to those who follow you of the believers. 215 Then if they disobey thee, say: "I am free (of responsibility) for what ye do!" 216 And rely upon (Allah) the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 217 Who watches you when you get up, 218 and [sees] thy behaviour among those who prostrate themselves [before Him]: 219 Verily! He, only He, is the All-Hearer, the All-Knower. 220 Shall I inform you upon whom do the devils descend? 221 They descend on every guilty impostor. 222 (Into whose ears) they pour hearsay vanities, and most of them are liars. 223 And the Poets,- It is those straying in Evil, who follow them: 224 Art thou not aware that they roam confusedly through all the valleys [of words and thoughts,] 225 And they say what they do not do, 226 Save those who believed and worked righteous works and remembered Allah much, and vindicated themselves after they had been wronged. And anon those who do wrong shall come to know with what a translating they shall be translated. 227
