Recite unto them the story of Abraham: 69 When he asked his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They said: We worship idols, and are ever devoted unto them. 71 He said, "Do they hear you when you supplicate? 72 or do they profit you, or harm?' 73 They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing thus (what we do)." 74 He said: 'Have you considered what you worship, 75 and what your grandfathers worshipped 76 they are all my enemies, not so the Lord of the Universe, 77 Who created me, and He [it is who] guides me. 78 and He gives me to eat and drink, 79 And when I sicken, then He healeth me. 80 who makes me to die and then revives me, 81 and who, [hope, will forgive me my faults on Judgment Day! 82 O Lord, give me wisdom and admit me among the righteous, 83 “And give me proper fame among the succeeding generations.” 84 And make me one of the inheritors of the Paradise of Delight; 85 Forgive my father. He has gone astray. 86 Degrade me not upon the day when they are raised up, 87 the day when neither wealth nor sons shall profit 88 But only one who comes to Allah with a sound heart." 89 And Paradise shall be brought forward for the godfearing, 90 and Hell shall be revealed to the misguided, 91 And it will be said to them, "Where are those you used to worship 92 Besides Allah? Can they help you or yet help themselves? 93 "Then they will be thrown headlong into the (Fire),- they and those straying in Evil, 94 and the army of satan will all be thrown headlong into hell. 95 And there and then, blaming one another, they [who had grievously sinned in life] will exclaim: 96 By Allah, of a truth we were in error manifest 97 “When we considered you equal to the Lord Of The Creation.” 98 Only the sinful ones made us go astray. 99 so now we have no intercessors, 100 Nor a close friend (to help us). 101 If only we could return and be among the believers!" 102 Surely, in that there is a sign, yet most of them do not believe. 103 Verily your Lord is mighty and merciful. 104
