The Arrangers (Al-Saaffaat)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By those (angels) ranged in ranks (or rows). 1 by those who reprove severely, 2 And those who recite the message, 3 surely your God is One, 4 Lord of the heavens and the earth and that between them and Lord of the sunrises. 5 Surely We have adorned the nearest heaven with an adornment, the stars, 6 And have placed therein a guard against any satan froward. 7 They cannot listen to the speech of those on higher elevations and they are targeted from every side. 8 rejected, and theirs is an everlasting chastisement, 9 Except those who eavesdrop and are pursued by a shooting flame. 10 Then ask them (i.e. these polytheists, O Muhammad SAW): "Are they stronger as creation, or those (others like the heavens and the earth and the mountains, etc.) whom We have created?" Verily, We created them of a sticky clay. 11 Nay, but thou dost marvel when they mock 12 And when they are admonished, they receive not admonition. 13 and when they become aware of a [divine] message, they turn it to ridicule 14 And say: "This is only magic. 15 They say, "Shall we be brought to life again after we die and turn into dust and bones? 16 "And also our fathers of old?" 17 Say: 'Yes, but worthless' 18 for that [resurrection which they deride] will be [upon them of a sudden, as if it were] but a single accusing cry - and then, lo! they will begin to see [the truth] 19 And say: "Ah woe! This is the Day of Reckoning." 20 [It will be said], "This is the Day of Judgement which you have been denying." 21
