۞ "Bring ye up", it shall be said, "The wrong-doers and their wives, and the things they worshipped- 22 Besides Allah, then lead them to the way to hell. 23 "But stop them, for they must be asked: 24 "What is the matter with you? Why do you not help one another (as you used to do in the world)?" 25 Indeed, today they are surrendering themselves completely.” 26 And they will approach one another blaming each other. 27 They will say: "It was you who used to come to us from the right side [i.e. from the right side of one of us and beautify for us every evil, order us for polytheism, and stop us from the truth i.e. Islamic Monotheism and from every good deed]." 28 But they reply: 'Rather, you were not believers. 29 And we had no authority over you, but you were an inordinate people; 30 Thus, the words of Our Lord about us have come true and now we are suffering the torment. 31 We led you astray as we were ourselves astray." 32 Therefore, on that Day they will all share Our punishment. 33 Indeed, that is how We deal with the criminals. 34 For when it was said to them: 'There is no god except Allah' they were always proud 35 And said: "Should we abandon our gods for the sake of an insane poet?" 36 Rather, the Prophet has come with the truth and confirmed the [previous] messengers. 37 Indeed, you [disbelievers] will be tasters of the painful punishment, 38 You will only be recompensed according to your deeds.” 39 Save single-minded slaves of Allah; 40 For them there will be a known provision (in Paradise). 41 a variety of delicious fruits; and they shall be honoured 42 in the Gardens of Bliss. 43 On couches, facing one another. 44 A cup will be passed round among them [with a drink] from unsullied springs, 45 white, a delight to the drinkers, 46 Neither dulling the senses nor intoxicating, 47 They will have with them loving wives with big black and white eyes 48 Like sheltered eggs in a nest. 49 Then they will turn to one another, mutually questioning. 50 One of them will say, "I had a companion who asked me, 51 'Do you believe in the Day of Judgment? 52 When we are dead and have become dust and bones, are we indeed going to be requited? 53 He shall say: Will you look on? 54 Then he will look and see him in the midst of the Fire. 55 He says, 'By God, wellnigh thou didst destroy me; 56 Had it not been for the grace of my Lord I too would have been there (in Hell). 57 (Allah informs about that true believer that he said): "Are we then not to die (any more)? 58 Save our first death, and are we not to be tormented? 59 Indeed, this is the great attainment. 60 For the like of this let the workers work. 61 Is this better as an entertainment or the tree of Zaqqum? 62 Indeed, We have made it a torment for the wrongdoers. 63 Indeed it is a tree that sprouts from the base of hell. 64 Its spathes are like the prickly pear. 65 They will eat from it and fill their bellies with it; 66 Then indeed, they will have after it a mixture of scalding water. 67 Then their return will be to the same blazing Hell. 68 Indeed they found their fathers astray. 69 and [now] they make haste to follow in their footsteps! 70 yet before them most of the ancients went astray, 71 And indeed We had sent Heralds of warnings among them. 72 Then see what was the end of those who were admonished (but heeded not),- 73 except for the chosen servants of Allah? 74
