The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the Mount 1 And the Scripture inscribed 2 in a parchment unrolled, 3 And the House (Kaaba) that is visited, 4 by the elevated canopy; 5 And the swollen sea 6 Indeed, the punishment of your Lord will occur. 7 No one can avert it. 8 On the Day the heaven will sway with circular motion 9 And the mountains will move away with an awful movement. 10 Woe, then, will be on that Day to the beliers 11 and amuse themselves with vain argumentation. 12 On the Day whereon they will be pushed into Hell-Fire with a dreadful push. 13 "This:, it will be said, "Is the Fire,- which ye were wont to deny! 14 Then is this magic, or do you not see? 15 “Enter it – now whether you patiently bear it or are impatient – it is the same for you; for you is a recompense only for what you used to do.” 16 But in the Gardens the righteous shall live in bliss, 17 Rejoicing at what their Lord has given them; and their Lord will preserve them from the torment of Hell. 18 'Eat and drink, with wholesome appetite, for that you were working. 19 Reclining on ranged couches. And we wed them unto fair ones with wide, lovely eyes. 20 And those who believe and whose offspring follow them in Faith, to them shall We join their offspring, and We shall not decrease the reward of their deeds in anything. Every person is a pledge for that which he has earned. 21 We shall provide them in abundance with such fruit and meat as they desire. 22 and in that [paradise] they shall pass on to one another a cup which will not give rise to empty talk, and neither incite to sin. 23 ۞ They will be served by youths who will be as beautiful as pearls. 24 And some of them shall advance towards others questioning each other. 25 They will say, "Indeed, we were previously among our people fearful [of displeasing Allah]. 26 "But Allah has been gracious to us, and has saved us from the torment of the Fire. 27 We used to pray to Him erstwhile; He is the just and merciful. 28
