Dispatched (Al-Mursalaat)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the emissary winds, (sent) one after another 1 And the winds that blow violently 2 Consider these [messages] that spread [the truth] far and wide, 3 Then separate them, one from another, 4 and then giving forth a reminder, 5 To cut off all excuses or to warn; 6 that whatever with which you have been warned will inevitably come to pass. 7 So when the stars are extinguished, 8 and when the sky is rent asunder, 9 The mountains reduced to dust and blown away, 10 And when the apostles are gathered at their appointed time 11 If one asks, "To which day have such calamitous events been postponed?" 12 To the day of decision. 13 Would that you knew what the Day of Decision is! 14 Woe, that Day, to the deniers. 15 Did We not destroy the ancient people 16 Then did We follow them up with later ones. 17 That is what We shall do to those who are guilty of crime. 18 Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)! 19 Did We not create you from a worthless water (semen, etc.)? 20 Which We laid up in a safe abode 21 for an appointed term? 22 So We decreed. How excellent are We as decreers! 23 On that day, woe would be upon those who have rejected the revelations of God! 24 Did We not make the earth a receptacle, 25 the living and the dead? 26 And We placed therein lofty, firmly set mountains and have given you to drink sweet water. 27 Woe on that day unto the beliers! 28 'Depart unto that which ye were wont to belie. 29 Proceed to a shadow rising in three columns: 30 Neither shading nor availing against the flame. 31 Verily! It (Hell) throws sparks (huge) as Al-Qasr [a fort or a Qasr (huge log of wood)], 32 like giant fiery ropes! 33 Alas the woe that day for those who deny! 34 This is the day on which they shall not speak, 35 Nor shall they be permitted so that they might excuse themselves. 36 Ruin is for the deniers on that day! 37 That will be a Day of Sorting out! We shall gather you together and those before (you)! 38 So if you have any plot to devise against Me, then devise it. 39 Woe on that Day to those who belied it! 40
