He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came unto him a blind man. 2 And what should teach thee? Perchance he would cleanse him, 3 Or take heed and so the reminder might avail him? 4 For him who does not care, 5 you eagerly attended to him -- 6 Though it is not your concern if he should not grow. 7 but as for him who came unto thee full of eagerness 8 and who has fear of God, 9 Him thou neglectest! 10 Assuredly this is a reminder 11 So whoso wills may give heed to it. 12 [It is recorded] in honored sheets, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 and angelic scribes. 16 Cursed be man! how ungrateful is he! 17 From what has God created him? 18 Of a drop of seed. He created him and formed him according to a measure. 19 Then the way He made easy. 20 Then causeth him to die, and burieth him; 21 then, He will raise him when He wills. 22 Nay, but (man) hath not done what He commanded him. 23 Let man consider his food: 24 [how it is] that We pour down water, pouring it down abundantly; 25 then We split the earth in fissures 26 And produce therein corn, 27 And grapes and herbage, 28 and olive trees and date palms 29 and gardens dense with foliage, 30 fruits, and grass. 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 But when the Shout cometh 33 it will be such a day when a person will run away from his brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 On that day, each one has just one issue, which is enough for him. 37 Some faces on that Day shall be beaming with happiness, 38 laughing and joyful, 39 And many will be dust-begrimed, 40 Dust shall cover them 41 Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers). 42
