The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Whereof do they question one another? 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 whereupon they are at variance? 3 Indeed they will come to know soon; 4 Nay, again, but they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a wide expanse, 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep for rest, 9 made the night as a covering, 10 and made the day to seek livelihood, 11 We have built above you seven mighty heavens, 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water. 14 so that We may thereby bring forth grain and vegetation, 15 and gardens dense with foliage? 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 The day the trumpet blast is sounded you will come in hordes; 18 And the heaven is opened and will become gateways 19 and the mountains shall be made to vanish, as if they had been a mirage. 20 Verily the Hell is an ambuscade: 21 For the transgressors, a place of return, 22 They will abide therein for ages. 23 Therein taste they neither coolness nor (any) drink 24 Except boiling water and benumbing cold: 25 , A fitting reward. 26 They were those who did not expect a reckoning, 27 And denied Our verses with [emphatic] denial. 28 And We have recorded everything in a book, 29 So taste (the fruit of your deeds). We shall only increase your torment. 30
