The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Of what do they question one another? 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 About which they have been differing? 3 No indeed; soon will they come to know; 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 HAVE WE NOT made the earth a resting-place [for you,] 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 Have We not created you in pairs, 8 And have appointed your sleep for repose, 9 and We made the night a mantle, 10 And We made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments, 12 And have kept a very bright lamp in it. 13 and have sent down out of the rainclouds water cascading 14 That We may bring forth thereby grain and vegetation 15 and gardens dense with foliage? 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 The day on which the trumpet shall be blown so you shall come forth in hosts, 18 And the heaven shall be opened so that it shall be all openings, 19 And the mountains will have been removed away, and they will have become as mirage. 20 Lo! hell lurketh in ambush, 21 The rebels' abode, 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink. 24 except boiling water and pus 25 The reward to each is according to what he is. 26 For lo! they looked not for a reckoning; 27 But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. 28 However, We have recorded everything in a book. 29 So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment. 30
