He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man, [interrupting]. 2 But what could tell thee but that perchance he might grow (in spiritual understanding)?- 3 Or become reminded so that the reminder should profit him? 4 As for him who considers himself free from need (of you), 5 To him you give attention. 6 What does it matter to you if he will not become pure (from disbelief, you are only a Messenger, your duty is to convey the Message of Allah). 7 But as for he who came to you striving [for knowledge] 8 and in awe [of God] 9 you ignore him. 10 Assuredly this is a reminder 11 So whoever wills may remember it. 12 (Contained) in honoured pages, 13 Exalted and purified, 14 By the hands of scribes. 15 Noble and dutiful. 16 Accursed be man! How stubbornly he denies the Truth. 17 Of what substance God created him? 18 From a drop of seed. He createth him and proportioneth him, 19 and made the path of guidance easy for him to follow. 20 Then He causeth him to die, and putteth him in his grave; 21 then, He will raise him when He wills. 22 Nay, but [man] has never yet fulfilled what He has enjoined upon him! 23 Then let man look at his food, 24 how We pour down rain in abundance, 25 and cleaved the earth, cleaving it asunder; 26 how We made the grain to grow, 27 And grapes and herbage 28 And olive-trees and palm-trees 29 the densely tree'd gardens, 30 And fruits and grass, 31 for you and for your herds to delight in. 32 Then, when there comes As-Sakhkhah (the Day of Resurrection's second blowing of Trumpet), 33 it will be such a day when a person will run away from his brother, 34 mother, father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 Each man will have enough cares that day. 37 Some faces on that Day shall be beaming with happiness, 38 laughing and joyous 39 Some faces on that Day shall be dust-ridden, 40 and veiled with darkness. 41 those -- they are the unbelievers, the libertines. 42
Almighty Allah's Truth.
