The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
WHEN THE SUN is shrouded in darkness, 1 And when the stars fall, 2 And when the mountains are removed 3 when the ten-months pregnant camels shall be abandoned, 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 And when the seas are filled with flame 6 And when souls are united, 7 And when the girl-child that was buried alive is asked 8 For what sin she was slain. 9 And when the pages are made public 10 The curtain drawn back from the skies, 11 And when the hell is kindled up, 12 And when the Garden is brought near;- 13 [then] each soul shall know what it has put forward. 14 So verily I call to witness the planets - that recede, 15 Those that run [their courses] and disappear - 16 and by the night as it recedes, 17 And by the dawn as it brightens; 18 truly this is the word of a noble Messenger 19 one mighty and held in honour with the Lord of the Throne; 20 (One) to be obeyed, and trustworthy; 21 And your companion is not gone mad. 22 he truly beheld him [the angel] on the clear horizon. 23 And he is of the unseen not a tenacious concealer. 24 Nor is this the word of a stoned satan. 25 Whither, then, will you go? 26 That is but an advice to the entire creation! 27 So let those who want, choose the right guidance 28 And what will you wish, except if Allah wills – the Lord of the Creation. 29
