The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed; 2 And when the earth is flattened out, 3 and casts forth what is in it, and voids itself, 4 obeying its Lord, as it must do! 5 Thou, verily, O man, art working toward thy Lord a work which thou wilt meet (in His presence). 6 Then, he who is given his Book in his right hand 7 Soon an easy account will be taken from him. 8 And will return unto his folk in joy. 9 But he who is given his Record behind his back,- 10 Soon he will pray for death. 11 and he will enter the blazing flame. 12 Verily, he was among his people in joy! 13 for he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 This is a fact. Their Lord is Well-Aware of (all that they do). 15 No! I swear by the twilight 16 And by the night and whatever it gathers in its darkness; 17 And the Moon in her fullness: 18 you will progress from stage to stage. 19 What, then, is amiss with them that they will not believe [in a life to come]? 20 When the Quran is read to them, why do they not fall to their knees? ۩ 21 Indeed, those who are bent on denying the truth reject it -- 22 And Allah knows best what they hide, 23 So give them news of painful punishment, 24 Except to those who believe and work righteous deeds: For them is a Reward that will never fail. 25
