The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder 1 And obeys its Lord and it must. 2 And when the earth shall be stretched forth. 3 And casts forth what is in it and becomes empty, 4 And obeys its Lord and it must. 5 [then,] O man - thou [that] hast, verily, been toiling towards thy Sustainer in painful toil - then shalt thou meet Him! 6 So whoever is given his record of deeds in his right hand – 7 His account shall presently be taken by an easy reckoning. 8 And he shall return unto his people joyfully. 9 But he who is given his Record behind his back,- 10 He shall call for perdition, 11 They will suffer the heat of hell fire. 12 He lived rejoicing among his people, 13 thinking he would never revert (to Us). 14 Yes! Verily, his Lord has been ever beholding him! 15 I swear by the glow of sunset, 16 And [by] the night and what it envelops 17 by the moon, in its fullness 18 you will progress from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them, that they do not believe 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate [to Allah]? ۩ 21 Instead, the unbelievers reject it, calling it a lie. 22 Whereas Allah knoweth best that which they cherish. 23 Therefore give to them glad tidings of a painful punishment, 24 Except those who believe and do the right: For them there is reward unending. 25
