The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the heaven and the night-comer 1 How will you comprehend what the night star is? 2 (It is) the piercing star. 3 There is no soul but has a protector over it. 4 So man must consider from what he has been created. 5 He is created of water pouring forth, 6 That issued from between the loins and ribs. 7 Now, verily, He [who thus creates man in the first instance] is well able to bring him back [to life] 8 The Day when secrets will be put on trial, 9 and he shall have no strength, no helper. 10 By the Firmament which returns (in its round), 11 And by oath of the earth which flourishes with it. 12 Indeed the Qur’an is a decisive Word. 13 And it is not amusement. 14 Lo! they plot a plot (against thee, O Muhammad) 15 and I am cunningly devising. 16 Therefore grant a delay to the Unbelievers: Give respite to them gently (for awhile). 17
