54 verses, revealed in Mecca after Forgiver (Ghaafer) before Consultation (Al-Shooraa)

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

Ha Mim. 1 A revelation from [God], the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful -- 2 A Book, whereof the verses are explained in detail;- a Qur'an in Arabic, for people who understand;- 3 A bearer of glad tidings and a warner. Yet most of them turn aside, so that they hearken not. 4 And they say: "Our hearts are under coverings (screened) from that to which you invite us, and in our ears is deafness, and between us and you is a screen, so work you (on your way); verily, we are working (on our way)." 5 Say (unto them O Muhammad): I am only a mortal like you. It is inspired in me that your Allah is One Allah, therefor take the straight path unto Him and seek forgiveness of Him. And woe unto the idolaters, 6 who do not pay charity and disbelieve in the Everlasting Life. 7 Lo! as for those who believe and do good works, for them is a reward enduring. 8
