Whatever misfortune befalls you is of your own doing, God forgives much, 30 Nor can ye frustrate (aught), (fleeing) through the earth; nor have ye, besides Allah, any one to protect or to help. 31 And among His signs are the ships in the sea like mountains. 32 and if He wills, He stills the wind, and they remain motionless on its back. Surely in that are signs for every man enduring, thankful. 33 Or He may make them founder for what they have earned, and (even then) pardon most; 34 And those who dispute in respect of Our revelations may know that for them there is no place of shelter. 35 Whatever you have been given is only a temporary provision of this life, but that which is with God is better and more lasting for those who believe and put their trust in their Lord; 36 And those who avoid heinous sins and indecencies, and when they are wroth forgive. 37 those who answer their Lord, establish the prayers, and their affairs are by consultation; who spend of that which We have given them, 38 and who, when insolence visits them, do help themselves -- 39 But [remember that an attempt at] requiting evil may, too, become an evil: hence, whoever pardons [his foe] and makes peace, his reward rests with God - for, verily, He does not love evildoers. 40 And whosoever helps himself after he has been wronged -- against them there is no way. 41 blame falls only on those who wrong men and transgress on this earth without justification, such will have a painful punishment, 42 And verily whoso is patient and forgiveth - lo! that, verily, is (of) the steadfast heart of things. 43
