Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Ha Mim. 1 By the Book that makes things clear, 2 behold, We have caused it to be a discourse in the Arabic tongue, so that you might encompass it with your reason. 3 And verily, [originating as it does] in the source, with Us, of all revelation, it is indeed sublime, full of wisdom. 4 Shall We turn away the Remembrance from you because you are a sinful nation? 5 And how many Prophets We did send among the earlier people! 6 but whenever a prophet came to them, they mocked him, 7 and so, [in the end,] We destroyed them [even though they were] of greater might than these: and the [very] image of those people of old became a thing of the past. 8 If you ask them, "Who has created the heavens and the earth?", they will surely answer, "The Almighty, the All Knowing One has created them." 9 Who has made for you the earth like a bed, and has made for you roads therein, in order that you may find your way, 10 And He it is who sends down, again and again, waters from the sky in due measure: and [as] We raise therewith dead land to life, even thus will you be brought forth [from the dead]. 11 That has created pairs in all things, and has made for you ships and cattle on which ye ride, 12 so that you may sit firmly on their backs. Then once you have mounted them, remember your Lord's favour and say, "Glory be to Him who has subjected these creatures to us; we would never on our own have subdued them. 13 And to our Lord we shall surely return." 14 Yet they attribute to some of His servants a share with Him (in his godhead)! truly is man a blasphemous ingrate avowed! 15
