The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the Mount 1 And by the Book Inscribed. 2 on wide-open scrolls. 3 by the established House (Mecca), 4 The roof raised high, 5 And by the sea kept filled (or it will be fire kindled on the Day of Resurrection). 6 Most surely the punishment of your Lord will come to pass; 7 There is none can avert it;- 8 On the Day whereon the heaven will shake with an awful shaking. 9 And the mountains will fly hither and thither. 10 Then woe that Day to the beliers; 11 Those who are playing in pursuits. 12 On that day they will be violently pushed into the fire 13 and they will be told, "This is the fire which you called a lie. 14 Then is this magic, or do you not see? 15 "Burn ye therein: the same is it to you whether ye bear it with patience, or not: Ye but receive the recompense of your (own) deeds." 16 Lo! those who kept their duty dwell in gardens and delight, 17 Rejoicing in that which their Lord hath vouchsafed unto them; and their Lord will protect them from the torment of the Flame. 18 "Eat and drink with good cheer as a reward for your good deeds," 19 Reclining on ranged couches. And we wed them unto fair ones with wide, lovely eyes. 20 Those who believe, and whose descendants follow in belief, We will join their descendants to them. And We will not reduce them of anything of their deeds. Every one is pledged for what he has earned. 21 We shall provide them in abundance with all kinds of fruit and meat, whatever they may desire. 22 There they will pass a goblet to one another with neither idle talk nor sin, 23 ۞ They will be waited upon by immortal youths, like pearls hidden in their shells. 24 They will converse with one another, putting questions to each other, 25 Saying, “Indeed before this, we were in our houses, worried.” 26 Wherefore Allah hath obliged us, and hath protected us from the torment of the Scorch. 27 Formerly we had always prayed to Him. Surely He is Most Benign, Most Compassionate.” 28
