The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the Mount Sinai, 1 By a Decree inscribed 2 in a parchment unrolled, 3 And the House frequented, 4 And [by] the heaven raised high 5 and the sea that is full 6 surely thy Lord's chastisement is about to fall; 7 there is none who could avert it. 8 On the day when the heaven shall move from side to side 9 and the mountains shall violently fly about. 10 So woe on that day to those who reject (the truth), 11 those who are in plunging, playing. 12 The Day they are thrust toward the fire of Hell with a [violent] thrust, [its angels will say], 13 This is the fire which you used to deny. 14 Is this magic, or do ye not see? 15 [Enter to] burn therein; then be patient or impatient - it is all the same for you. You are only being recompensed [for] what you used to do." 16 Lo! those who kept their duty dwell in gardens and delight, 17 Happy because of what their Lord hath given them, and (because) their Lord hath warded off from them the torment of hell-fire. 18 "Eat and drink with relish," (they will be told), (as recompense) for what you had done." 19 Reclining on couches ranged. And We shall couple them with maidens wide eyed. 20 And (as for) those who believe and their offspring follow them in faith, We will unite with them their offspring and We will not diminish to them aught of their work; every man is responsible for what he shall have wrought. 21 And We provide them with fruit and meat such as they desire. 22 They will exchange with one another a cup [of wine] wherein [results] no ill speech or commission of sin. 23 ۞ They will be served by youths who will be as beautiful as pearls. 24 They will converse with one another, putting questions to each other, 25 "Before this, when we were among our families, we were full of fear of God's displeasure -- 26 But God has granted us favors and saved us from the scorching heat of the torment. 27 Formerly we had always prayed to Him. Surely He is Most Benign, Most Compassionate.” 28
