He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ (The Prophet (Peace be upon him)) frowned and turned away, 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 And what do you know, he may be of the pure! 3 Or that he may accept advice, so the advice may benefit him. 4 As for him who was indifferent, 5 To him you give attention. 6 although it is not for you to be concerned if he remained unpurified. 7 But as for him who cometh unto thee with earnest purpose 8 And he feareth 9 you pay him no heed. 10 Nay, but verily it is an Admonishment, 11 So whoever wills may remember it. 12 (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, 13 Exalted and purified, 14 by the hands of the noble, virtuous, 15 Who are noble, virtuous. 16 Woe to man! How ungrateful he is! 17 Of what did He create him? 18 Of a drop of seed. He created him and formed him according to a measure. 19 Then maketh the way easy for him, 20 Then He causes his death and provides a grave for him. 21 Then, when He willed, He brought him out. (As during the night of Holy Prophet’s ascension, when all the Prophets gathered behind him in the Al Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem. Or when Allah will raise everyone on the Day of Resurrection.) 22 No! Man has not yet accomplished what He commanded him. 23 Let man reflect on the food he eats. 24 That We pour forth water in abundance, 25 and split the earth, splitting, 26 Then We cause to grow therein the grain, 27 and vines and edible plants, 28 And olives and date-palms, 29 And garden-closes of thick foliage 30 And fruits and herbage 31 (To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle. 32 But when there comes the Deafening Blast 33 That Day shall a man flee from his own brother, 34 his mother and his father, 35 And his wife and his sons; 36 Everyone on that Day will have affairs to keep him occupied. 37 Some faces on that Day shall be beaming with happiness, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news (of Paradise). 39 but others will be gloomy 40 Dust shall cover them 41 These will be the unbelievers, the wicked. 42
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
End of Surah: He Frowned ('Abasa). Sent down in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
