He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ The Prophet frowned and turned away 1 when the blind man approached him, 2 And what do you know, he may be of the pure! 3 (He might) remember, and the Reminder might profit him. 4 As for him who regardeth himself self-sufficient 5 you attended to him, 6 What does it matter to you if he will not become pure (from disbelief, you are only a Messenger, your duty is to convey the Message of Allah). 7 But he who comes to you running, 8 And he feareth 9 him didst thou disregard! 10 By no means! Verily it is an admonition. 11 and whosoever wills, shall remember it. 12 Inscribed in Writs honoured, 13 Exalted, pure. 14 by the hands of scribes 15 noble and purified. 16 Perish Man! How unthankful he is! 17 Of what did He create him? 18 From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him, and then set him in due proportion; 19 then eased his path for him, 20 then makes him to die, and buries him, 21 and then, whenever He wishes, He will raise him back to life. 22 Indeed, he has not fulfilled that which He has ordered him. 23 Let the human being think about (how We produce) his food. 24 That We watered it in abundance. 25 Then We cleave the earth, cleaving (it) asunder, 26 how We made the grain to grow, 27 And grapes and clover plants (i.e. green fodder for the cattle), 28 and the olive, and the palm, 29 And dense gardens, 30 And fruits and grass, 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 But when the deafening blast is sounded, 33 That Day shall a man flee from his brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 his wife and his children. 36 on that Day every man among them will have enough concern of his own -- 37 Many faces will that day be bright, 38 laughing, joyous; 39 And (many) faces on that day, on them shall be dust, 40 Darkness will cover them, 41 Those! they are the infidels, the ungodly. 42
