The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Woe to the stinters who, 1 who, when people measure for them, take full measure, 2 Whereas when they give others after measuring or weighing, they give them less! 3 Do they not realise that they will be raised to life 4 unto a mighty day 5 the Day when people will stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 Nay! Truly, the Record (writing of the deeds) of the Fujjar (disbelievers, sinners, evil-doers and wicked) is (preserved) in Sijjin. 7 And what could make thee conceive what that that mode inescapable will be? 8 It is [their destination recorded in] a register inscribed. 9 Woe, that Day, to the deniers, 10 and those who have rejected the Day of Judgment. 11 Yet none gives the lie to it except the transgressor immersed in sin; 12 When Our Verses (of the Quran) are recited to him he says: "Tales of the ancients!" 13 Nay, but their hearts are corroded by all [the evil] that they were wont to do! 14 No indeed! On that Day they will be screened off from seeing their Lord, 15 Then lo! they verily will burn in hell, 16 and be told: "This is the [very thing] to which you were wont to give the lie!" 17 Nay! Most surely the record of the righteous shall be in the Iliyin. 18 And what do you know what the Illiyoon are! 19 A record of good deeds written. 20 which the angels placed near Allah to safeguard. 21 Truly the Righteous will be in Bliss: 22 Reclining on couches, looking on. 23 You can trace on their faces the joy of their bliss. 24 They will be served a drink of the finest sealed wine, 25 With a sealing of musk, which those who aspire for the best should desire, -- 26 and whose mixture is Tasnim, 27 A fountain whereof will drink those brought nigh. 28 The wicked used to laugh at the believers -- 29 when they passed by them, they would wink at one another; 30 and when they returned to their people they returned blithely, 31 and when they saw them said: 'These are they who are astray' 32 But they had not been sent as keepers over them! 33 This day it is those who believe who have the laugh of disbelievers, 34 On Thrones (of Dignity) they will command (a sight) (of all things). 35 Are not the disbelievers paid for what they used to do? 36
