The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By the (angels) who tear out (the souls of the wicked) with violence; 1 And by those who gently draw out the souls of the blessed, 2 And by those that swim along (i.e. angels or planets in their orbits, etc.). 3 And those who race each other in a race 4 And those who arrange [each] matter, 5 On the day when the first trumpet sound blasts 6 And the second followeth it, 7 Hearts on that Day will be throbbing; 8 While eyes are downcast 9 They say: "Shall we go back to our original state 10 What, when we are bones old and wasted?' 11 They said, “So this return is an obvious loss!” 12 But it shall be only a single scare, 13 and then, lo, they will be fully awakened [to the truth]! 14 Has the story of Moses reached thee? 15 When his Lord called him in the holy valley of Tuwa. 16 and directed him: “Go to Pharaoh, he has rebelled, 17 And say to him, 'Would you [be willing to] purify yourself 18 I shall guide you to your Lord so that you may perhaps have fear of Him". 19 And thereupon he [went to Pharaoh and] made him aware of the great wonder [of God's grace]. 20 But [Pharaoh] gave him the lie and rebelliously rejected [all guidance,] 21 Then turned he away in haste, 22 Then he collected (his men) and made a proclamation, 23 And he said: I am your Lord, most high. 24 So Allah, seized him with punishment for his last [i.e. his saying: "I am your lord, most high") (see Verse 79:24)] and first [(i.e. his saying, "O chiefs! I know not that you have a god other than I" (see Verse 28:38)] transgression. 25 Verily, in this is an instructive admonition for whosoever fears Allah. 26
