Therefor warn (men, O Muhammad). By the grace of Allah thou art neither soothsayer nor madman. 29 If they say, "He is but a poet; we are waiting for some misfortune to befall him," 30 Tell them: “Wait; I too am waiting with you.” 31 Is it that their faculties of understanding urge them to this, or are they but a people transgressing beyond bounds? 32 Or do they say: He has forged it. Nay! they do not believe. 33 Then let them produce a statement like it, if they should be truthful. 34 Or were they created out of nothing? Or are they the creators? 35 Or have they created the heavens and the earth? In fact they are certain of nothing. 36 Or, are the treasures of your Lord in their keeping? Or, are they the controllers? 37 Have they a stairway whereby they overhear? Then let their listener bring an authority manifest. 38 Or, [if you believe in God, how can you believe that] He has [chosen to have] daughters, whereas you yourselves would have [only] sons? 39 Or do you demand any wages from them so that they are burdened with expense? 40 Or [do they think] that the hidden reality [of all that exists] is almost within their grasp, so that [in time] they can write it down? 41 Or do they intend a plot (against thee)? But those who defy Allah are themselves involved in a Plot! 42 Or do they have a God besides Allah? Purity is to Allah from their ascribing of partners to Him. 43 And if they should see a portion of the heaven coming down, they would say: Piled up clouds. 44 so leave them alone till they face the Day on which they will be struck dumb, 45 The Day when their guile shall not relieve them a thing, and they shall not be helped. 46 And there surely awaits the evildoers a chastisement beyond even that, but most of them know it not. 47 And wait patiently for the judgment of your Lord, for surely you are before Our eyes, and sing the praise of your Lord when you rise; 48 And proclaim His Purity during the night, and when the stars turn back. 49
