And they ask thee of Zul Qarnain. Say thou: I shall recite unto you of him some mention. 83 We had given him great power in the land and all kinds of resources. 84 and so he chose the right means [in whatever he did]. 85 To the extent that when he reached the setting-place of the sun, he found it setting in a muddy spring, and found a nation there; We said, “O Zul-Qarnain – either punish them or choose kindness for them.” 86 He said: As to him who is unjust, we will chastise him, then shall he be returned to his Lord, and He will chastise him with an exemplary chastisement: 87 "But as for him who believes (in Allah's Oneness) and works righteousness, he shall have the best reward, (Paradise), and we (Dhul-Qarnain) shall speak unto him mild words (as instructions)." 88 Then he followed (another) course. 89 to the East where he found the sun rising upon a people whom We had exposed to its rays. 90 So; and We encompassed in knowledge what was with him. 91 He travelled 92 Until when he arrived between the two mountains, he found beside them a people who well-nigh understood not a word. 93 They said: O Zulqarnain! surely Gog and Magog make mischief in the land. Shall we then pay you a tribute on condition that you should raise a barrier between us and them 94 He replied: 'That which my Lord has given me is better, therefore help me with all your power, and I will build a barrier between you and between them. 95 Bring me blocks of iron; until when he had filled up the space between the two mountain sides, he said: Blow, until when he had made it (as) fire, he said: Bring me molten brass which I may pour over it. 96 So Gog and Magog were unable to pass over it, nor were they able [to effect] in it any penetration. 97 He said, 'This is a mercy from my Lord. But when the promise of my Lord comes to pass, He will make it into powder; and my Lord's promise is ever true.' 98 ۞ And We will leave them that day surging over each other, and [then] the Horn will be blown, and We will assemble them in [one] assembly. 99 On that Day We shall present Gehenna (Hell) to the unbelievers, 100 whose eyes had become blind against My admonition and who were utterly disinclined to hear it. 101
