The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
O you (Muhammad SAW) enveloped (in garments)! 1 Arise and warn, 2 And thine Lord magnify! 3 And thine inner self purify! 4 stay away from sins 5 Do not bestow favours in expectation of return, 6 For the sake of thy Lord, be patient! 7 For when the trumpet blows 8 That Day will be a difficult day 9 not of ease, for all who [now] deny the truth! 10 Let Me alone with him whom I created lonely. 11 And give him vast riches, 12 And sons always present by his side, 13 whose life I have made run smoothly 14 And yet he desires that I should add more! 15 By no means! surely he offers opposition to Our communications. 16 I shall inflict on him hardship, 17 Verily, he thought and plotted; 18 Perish he! How maliciously he devised! 19 What an evil plan he has made! 20 Then looked he, 21 Then he frowned and scowled; 22 Then he turned back and was big with pride, 23 Then said he: "This is nothing but magic, derived from of old; 24 “This is nothing but the speech of a man.” 25 I will drive him into Saqar. 26 And what do you know what Hell is? 27 It spares nothing; it leaves nothing intact; 28 it scorches the skin; 29 Over it are nineteen (angels guarding). 30 And We have set none but angels as Guardians of the Fire; and We have fixed their number only as a trial for Unbelievers,- in order that the People of the Book may arrive at certainty, and the Believers may increase in Faith,- and that no doubts may be left for the People of the Book and the Believers, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the Unbelievers may say, "What symbol doth Allah intend by this?" Thus doth Allah leave to stray whom He pleaseth, and guide whom He pleaseth: and none can know the forces of thy Lord, except He and this is no other than a warning to mankind. 31
