The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
When the sun is wrapped up [in darkness] 1 When the stars fall, losing their lustre; 2 when the mountains shall be set moving, 3 When the she-camels, ten months with young, are left untended; 4 The wild beasts stampede on the run, 5 When the oceans surge and swell, 6 souls are reunited with their bodies, 7 And when the female (infant) buried alive (as the pagan Arabs used to do) shall be questioned. 8 For what sin she was slain. 9 And when the pages are laid open, 10 when the sky is unveiled, 11 And when Hellfire is set ablaze 12 And when the Garden shall be brought nigh, 13 (Then) every person will know what he has brought (of good and evil). 14 So verily I call to witness the planets - that recede, 15 the runners, the sinkers, 16 And by oath of the night when it turns back. 17 by the dawn sighing, 18 That this is in truth the word of an honoured messenger, 19 Owner of power, and high rank with (Allah) the Lord of the Throne, 20 Obeyed one; then trustworthy. 21 And (O people!) your companion is not one possessed; 22 And without doubt he saw him in the clear horizon. 23 He (Muhammad) is not accused of lying about the unseen. 24 And the Qur'an is not the word of a devil, expelled [from the heavens]. 25 So whither do you stray? 26 This is naught but an admonition unto the worlds 27 for whosoever of you who would go straight; 28 And ye shall not will unless it be that Allah, the Lord of the worlds, willeth. 29
