The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the sky, (displaying) the Zodiacal Signs; 1 and by the promised Day, 2 And by the witnessing day (i.e. Friday), and by the witnessed day [i.e. the day of 'Arafat (Hajj) the ninth of Dhul-Hijjah]; 3 The companions of the pit were killed 4 Full of fire fed by faggots, 5 while they themselves sat around it 6 And they witnessed what they were doing against the believers (i.e. burning them). 7 And what did they dislike from the Muslims, except that the Muslims accepted faith in Allah the Most Honourable, the Most Praiseworthy? 8 [and] to whom the dominion of the heavens and the earth belongs. But God is witness unto everything! 9 Verily, those who put into trial the believing men and believing women (by torturing them and burning them), and then do not turn in repentance, (to Allah), will have the torment of Hell, and they will have the punishment of the burning Fire. 10 Indeed those who believed and did good deeds – for them are Gardens beneath which rivers flow; this is the great success. 11 VERILY, thy Sustainer's grip is exceedingly strong! 12 It is He Who creates from the very beginning, and He can restore (life). 13 And He is the Forgiving, the Loving, 14 Lord of the Arsh, the Glorious, 15 He does what He intends (or wills). 16 HAS IT ever come within thy ken, the story of the [sinful] hosts 17 (The armies of) Firaun and the tribe of Thamud. 18 Yet those who deny the truth persist in denial. 19 And Allah, all unseen, surroundeth them. 20 It is indeed a glorious Quran, 21 inscribed on a well-guarded Tablet. 22
