I say the truth, and call the moon to witness, 32 By the night when it withdraweth. 33 And by the dawn when it brightens, 34 Surely, it is one of the gravest things, 35 A warning unto humankind 36 to whoever among you desires to go forward, or lag behind. 37 Every soul is a pledge for its own deeds; 38 Save the fellows of the right. 39 who will be in Paradise 40 about the guilty ones: 41 “What drove you to Hell?” 42 They shall say, 'We were not of those who prayed, and 43 And we used not to feed the poor; 44 And we used to enter into vain discourse with those who entered into vain discourses. 45 “And used to deny the Day of Justice.” 46 Till death overtook us. 47 The mediation of no mediators will avail them then. 48 So what is the matter with them that they turn away from the advice? 49 As if they were alarmed donkeys 50 fleeing from a lion? 51 Rather, every person among them desires that he would be given scriptures spread about. 52 By no means! But they fear not the Hereafter, 53 Yes indeed, this is an advice. 54 and whoever wills may take it to heart. 55 But they will not remember except as God wills: He is worthy to be feared, and He is worthy of forgiving 56
