The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By oath of the night when it covers 1 by the day when it appears radiant, 2 And Him Who hath created male and female, 3 Verily, (the ends) ye strive for are diverse. 4 Then as for him who gives away and guards (against evil), 5 and believes in the truth of the ultimate good 6 We shall surely ease him to the Easing. 7 But as for him who is a miser, and self-sufficient, 8 and cries lies to the reward most fair, 9 We will make smooth for him the path for evil; 10 And his wealth will not avail him when he perishes. 11 Surely, in Our hands is guidance, 12 And indeed, to Us belongs the Hereafter and the first [life]. 13 I have now warned you of the Blazing Fire, 14 None will [enter to] burn therein except the most wretched one. 15 who gives the lie to the truth and turns away [from it]. 16 Far removed from it will be the righteous 17 Who giveth his wealth that he may grow (in goodness). 18 And no one has done a favour to him, for which he should be compensated. 19 He desires only to please his Lord, the Supreme. 20 and before long he will be well satisfied. 21
True are the words of God the Almighty.
