The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the star when it goes down, (or vanishes). 1 your comrade is not astray, neither errs, 2 Nor does he speak from [his own] inclination. 3 This is only revelation communicated, 4 He was taught by [an angel] who is mighty in power, 5 One vigorous; and he grew clear to view 6 appearing in the horizon's loftiest part, 7 Then he drew nigh and came down 8 And was at a distance of two bows' length or (even) nearer, 9 then revealed to his servant that he revealed. 10 The heart did not lie [about] what it saw. 11 What! do you then dispute with him as to what he saw? 12 And indeed he did see the Spectacle again. 13 at the Lote Tree (Sidrat tree) of the ending 14 Close to which is the Everlasting Paradise. 15 When that which shroudeth did enshroud the lote-tree, 16 The sight (of Prophet Muhammad SAW) turned not aside (right or left), nor it transgressed beyond (the) limit (ordained for it). 17 Certainly he saw of the greatest signs of his Lord. 18 HAVE YOU, then, ever considered [what you are worshipping in] Al-Lat and Al-Uzza, 19 And subsequently the third, the Manat? 20 "What! For you the males and for Him the females?" 21 That, then, is an unjust division. 22 They are not but [mere] names you have named them - you and your forefathers - for which Allah has sent down no authority. They follow not except assumption and what [their] souls desire, and there has already come to them from their Lord guidance. 23 Or shall man have whatever he fancies? 24 To Allah belong both the Next World and the present. 25
