And certainly We created man of clay that gives forth sound, of black mud fashioned in shape. 26 And the jinn We created before from scorching fire. 27 And when thy Lord said to the angels, 'See, I am creating a mortal of a clay of mud moulded. 28 “Therefore when I have properly fashioned him and breathed into him a chosen noble soul from Myself, fall down before him in prostration.” 29 So the angels made obeisance, all of them together, 30 Except Iblis (Satan), - he refused to be among the prostrators. 31 The Lord inquired: "Iblis! What is the matter with you that you did not join those who prostrated?" 32 He said, "Never would I prostrate to a human whom You created out of clay from an altered black mud." 33 "Go hence, execrable," (said the Lord), "from this place, 34 and there shall be a curse upon you till the Day of Recompense." 35 He said: My Lord! then respite me till the time when they are raised. 36 Allah said: "For sure you are granted respite 37 “Till the Day of a well-known time.” 38 "O my Lord," he said, "since You have led me into error I'll beguile them with the pleasures of the world and lead them astray, 39 Save such of them as are Thy perfectly devoted slaves. 40 He (Allah) said: 'This is for Me the Right Path 41 over My worshipers you have no authority, except the perverse that follow you. 42 And surely Hell is the promised place of them all: 43 It hath seven gates, and each gate hath an appointed portion. 44
