Also mention in the Book (the story of) Abraham: He was a man of Truth, a prophet. 41 When he said to his father; O my father! why do you worship what neither hears nor sees, nor does it avail you in the least: 42 Father, a knowledge that has not reached you has come to me. So follow me that I may guide you to a Straight Way. 43 "O my father! Do not worship Satan - for, verily, Satan is a rebel against the Most Gracious! 44 Father, indeed I fear lest a punishment from the Gracious One afflict you, and you become a friend of Satan." 45 He said: art thou averse to my gods, O Ibrahim? If thou desistest not, surely I shall stone thee; and depart from me for ever so long. 46 Abraham said: "Peace be on thee: I will pray to my Lord for thy forgiveness: for He is to me Most Gracious. 47 And I will leave you and those you invoke other than Allah and will invoke my Lord. I expect that I will not be in invocation to my Lord unhappy." 48 So when he had separated himself from them and from what they worshipped besides God, We bestowed on him Isaac and Jacob, and We made each of them a prophet. 49 And We bestowed of Our Mercy on them, and We granted them lofty honour on the tongue of truth. 50
