Noah (Nooh)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Indeed We sent Nooh towards his people saying that, “Warn your people before the painful punishment comes upon them.” 1 He said, 'O my people, I am unto you a clear warner, 2 that you serve Allah and fear Him, and follow me; 3 He will forgive you some of your faults and grant you a delay to an appointed term; surely the term of Allah when it comes is not postponed; did you but know! 4 He said; 'My Lord, I have called my people by night and by day, 5 But my call has only made them flee the more: 6 And whenever I called them, that Thou mightest forgive them, they put their fingers in their ears, and wrapped them in their garments, and persisted, and waxed very proud. 7 Then I called them loudly and more openly, 8 “Then I also told them publicly and also spoke to them softly in private.” 9 And I said: ask forgiveness of your Lord; verily He is ever Most Forgiving. 10 He will send down upon you the cloud, pouring down abundance of rain: 11 and will provide you with wealth and children, and will bestow upon you gardens and rivers. 12 "'What is amiss with you that you cannot look forward to God's majesty, 13 seeing that He has created [every one of] you in successive stages? 14 "'Do you not see how God has created seven heavens in full harmony with one another, 15 ‘And in them, has illuminated the moon, and made the sun a lamp?’ 16 "'And God has caused you to grow out of the earth in [gradual] growth; and thereafter He will return you to it [in death]: 17 how He will then return you to it and bring you forth again, 18 And Allah hath made the earth a wide expanse for you 19 for you, so that you may walk along its wide roads". 20
