The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the sky bursts open, 1 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] 2 and when the earth is stretched out 3 and casts forth whatever is in it, and becomes utterly void, 4 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must: 5 [then,] O man - thou [that] hast, verily, been toiling towards thy Sustainer in painful toil - then shalt thou meet Him! 6 Then he who is given his Record in his right hand, 7 he will in time be called to account with an easy accounting, 8 And return to his people in happiness. 9 But he who is given the Record behind his back, 10 he shall call for destruction 11 And be thrown to scorching fire. 12 He once lived among his family joyfully; 13 Surely he thought that he would never return. 14 Yea indeed! His Sustainer did see all that was in him! 15 I do not need to swear by the sunset, 16 And by oath of the night and all that gathers in it. 17 And by the moon when she is at the full, 18 you shall proceed onwards from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them? Why do they not believe? 20 And when the Qur’an is recited to them, they do not fall prostrate? (Command of Prostration # 13) ۩ 21 No, the unbelievers only belie, 22 And Allah knows best what they hide, 23 (Muhammad), tell them that they will all suffer a painful torment 24 unless it be such [of them] as [repent, and] attain to faith, and do good works; for theirs shall be a reward unending! 25
