Hizb 46
< random >
And, verily, Yunus (Jonah) was one of the Messengers. 139 When he ran to the laden ship, 140 And he drew lots and was among the losers. 141 Then a fish swallowed him, and he was blameworthy. 142 Had he not glorified God, 143 He would have remained in its belly till the day when all will be raised. 144 ۞ But We threw him on a wide bare tract of land while he was ill; 145 and We caused to grow over him a tree of gourds. 146 And We sent him to a hundred thousand (folk) or more 147 And they believed, so We gave them provision till a time. 148 So ask them for a pronouncement -- Has thy Lord daughters, and they sons? 149 Or, did We create the angels females while they were witnessing? 150 Is it not of their own calumny that they say, 151 “Allah has begotten.” They are liars! 152 “Has he chosen daughters instead of sons?” 153 What is the matter with you? How do you decide? 154 “So do you not ponder?” 155 Or have ye a clear warrant? 156 Bring your Book, if you speak truly! 157 And they have invented a blood-relationship between Him and the Jinns: but the Jinns know (quite well) that they have indeed to appear (before his Judgment-Seat)! 158 Exalted is Allah above what they describe, 159 Except the slaves of Allah, whom He choses (for His Mercy i.e. true believers of Islamic Monotheism who do not attribute false things unto Allah). 160 So you and your deities 161 cannot mislead anyone 162 Except such as are (themselves) going to the blazing Fire! 163 And there is none of us but has an assigned place, 164 And verily we! we are ranged in ranks. 165 And verily we! we hallow. 166 AND, INDEED, they [who deny the truth] have always been wont to say, 167 “If we had some advice from the earlier generations,” 168 We would certainly have been the servants of Allah-- the purified ones. 169 And yet, [now that this divine writ has been placed before them,] they refuse to acknowledge it as true! In time, however, they will come to know [what it was that they had rejected]: 170 Our Word had already preceded Our worshipers, the Messengers, 171 that they shall certainly be succoured, 172 and Our host -- they are the victors. 173 So, (O Prophet), leave them alone for a while, 174 And watch them, for they will soon see. 175 Would they hasten on Our doom? 176 Then, when it descends into their courtyard (i.e. near to them), evil will be the morning for those who had been warned! 177 And turn thou aside from them for a season. 178 and watch. They, too, will watch. 179 Exaltations be to your Lord, the Lord of Might, above that they describe! 180 So peace be on the messengers, 181 and praise be to God, the Lord of all the Worlds. 182
True are the words of God the Almighty.
End of Surah: The Arrangers (Al-Saaffaat). Sent down in Mecca after Animals (Al-An 'aam) before Luqmaan (Luqmaan)
