Dawn (Al-Fajr)
30 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Night (Al-Layl) before The Forenoon (Al-Duhaa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
I swear by the daybreak, 1 By the Nights twice five; 2 And [by] the even [number] and the odd 3 And by the night when it departeth, 4 There is indeed in them (the above oaths) sufficient proofs for men of understanding (and that, they should avoid all kinds of sins and disbeliefs, etc.)! 5 Have you not seen how your Lord dealt with Ad 6 [With] Iram - who had lofty pillars, 7 the like of which has never been created in the land, 8 and Thamood, who hollowed the rocks in the valley, 9 And with Pharaoh, firm of might, 10 All of them committed excesses in their lands, 11 And increased therein the corruption. 12 So your Lord poured upon them a scourge of punishment. 13 your Lord keeps an eye on (all evil-doing people). 14 And as for man, when his Lord tries him, then treats him with honor and makes him lead an easy life, he says: My Lord honors me. 15 But when He tests him by restricting his provision, he says: 'My Lord has humiliated me' 16 Nay! But you treat not the orphans with kindness and generosity (i.e. you neither treat them well, nor give them their exact right of inheritance)! 17 And you do not encourage one another to feed the poor. 18 And ye devour inheritance - all with greed, 19 and you ardently love wealth. 20 No! When the earth has been leveled - pounded and crushed - 21 And thy Lord shall come with angels, rank on rank, 22 And Hell will be brought near that Day. On that Day will man remember, but how will that remembrance (then) avail him? 23 He will say: "Alas! Would that I had sent forth (good deeds) for (this) my life!" 24 Wherefore on that Day none shall torment with His torment. 25 none shall bind as He binds. 26 O thou peaceful soul! 27 "Come back to your Lord, Well-pleased (yourself) and well-pleasing unto Him! 28 Then enter the ranks of My chosen bondmen! 29 And come into My Paradise! 30
Almighty God's Truth.
