Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
HAS NEWS OF the Overpowering Event reached you? 1 On that day the faces of some people will be humbly cast down, 2 Labouring, wearied out, 3 They will [enter to] burn in an intensely hot Fire. 4 watered at a boiling fountain, 5 For them there will be no food except from a poisonous, thorny plant 6 which gives no strength and neither stills hunger. 7 (Other) faces that Day will be joyful, 8 Rejoicing over their efforts. 9 They will live in an exalted garden 10 wherein they shall hear no vain talk. 11 A gushing fountain shall be there 12 raised couches, 13 and prepared goblets, 14 well-placed cushions, 15 and outspread carpets. 16 Do (these unbelievers) not observe the camels: how they were created? 17 And the sky: how it was raised high? 18 And at the mountains - how they are erected? 19 And the earth, how it was spread out? 20 Therefore remind, you are only a Reminder. 21 Thou art not one to manage (men's) affairs. 22 But whosoever will turn back and disbelieve 23 Allah will punish them with the greatest punishment. 24 Indeed, to Us they shall return, 25 Then, surely, it is for Us to call them to account. 26

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
