▼ 15 The Hijjr Valley
Al-Hijjr 6 of 6
AND, [likewise,] indeed, the people of Al-Hijr gave the lie to [Our] message-bearers: 80 And We gave them Our communications, but they turned aside from them; 81 And they used to carve from the mountains, houses, feeling secure. 82 and so the blast [of Our punishment] overtook them at early morn, 83 and of no avail to them was all [the power] that they had acquired. 84 And We have not created the heaven and the earth and that which is in between them save with a purpose. And verily the Hour is surely coming; so overlook thou with a seemly overlooking, 85 Surely your Lord is the All Knowing Creator! 86 And indeed, We have bestowed upon you seven of Al-Mathani (the seven repeatedly recited Verses), (i.e. Surat Al-Fatiha) and the Grand Quran. 87 Do not yearn for other people's property and wives and do not grieve (that they do not believe). Be kind to the believers. 88 And say: "I am a distinct warner," 89 Just as We had revealed [scriptures] to the separators 90 (So also on such) as have made Qur'an into shreds (as they please). 91 So by your Lord, We will surely question them all 92 Of what they used to do. 93 (O Prophet), proclaim what you are commanded, and pay no heed to those who associate others with Allah in His Divinity. 94 Truly! We will suffice you against the scoffers. 95 even against those who set up with God another god. Certainly they will soon know! 96 Indeed, We know your chest is straitened by that they say. 97 Exalt with the praise of your Lord and be one of those who prostrate. 98 Worship your Lord till the certainty (death) comes to you. 99

Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
