Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
HAS NEWS OF the Overpowering Event reached you? 1 Some faces will on that Day be downcast, 2 troubled and tired as a result of their deeds in the past. 3 (Yet) Going into the blazing fire. 4 Made to drink from a boiling spring. 5 They shall have no food except bitter dry thorns 6 Which neither nourishes nor avails against hunger. 7 On that very Day some faces shall be radiant with joy, 8 well-pleased with [the fruit of] their striving, 9 In an elevated garden, 10 wherein they shall hear no vain talk. 11 with a flowing spring, 12 And within it are couches placed on high, 13 Goblets placed (ready), 14 and cushions arrayed in rows, 15 and rich carpets levelled out. 16 What, do they not reflect upon how the camel was created? 17 And at the sky, how it is raised aloft? 18 And the mountains: how they were fixed? 19 And the earth – how it has been spread out? 20 Therefore remind, you are only a Reminder. 21 You are not a dictator over them. 22 But whoever will turn away (from the Truth), 23 Allah will chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Surely to Us is their turning back, 25 Ours is surely then to reckon with them. 26
