The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event comes, 1 there will be nought that could give the lie to its having come to pass, 2 Abasing exalting. 3 This will happen when the earth is shaken, shaken 4 and the mountains crumbled 5 they will become like dust scattered around. 6 you shall be divided into three parties, 7 Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 And those who surpassed have indeed excelled. 10 These are they who are drawn nigh (to Allah), 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 A number of people from those of old, 13 and only a few of them from the later generations. 14 On thrones woven [with ornament], 15 reclining on them, arrayed face to face; 16 Immortal youths will wait upon them 17 With bowls and ewers and a cup from a pure spring 18 Unheady, uninebriating; 19 they will also go about them with the fruits of which they may choose, 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 And (there will be) Houris (fair females) with wide, lovely eyes (as wives for the pious), 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 [And this will be] a reward for what they did [in life]. 24 They shall not hear therein vain or sinful discourse, 25 Other than "Peace, peace" the salutation. 26 And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 27 Amid thornless lote-trees, 28 Bananatrees, piled 29 and extended shade, 30 And water flowing constantly, 31 and abundant fruit, 32 never-ending and unrestricted, 33 and upraised couches. 34 Surely We have made them to grow into a (new) growth, 35 having resurrected them as virgins, 36 Beloved (by nature), equal in age,- 37 For the fellows on the right hand. 38
