He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because the blind man came unto him. 2 You never know. Perhaps he wanted to purify himself, 3 or take heed and derive benefit from [Our] warning? 4 As to one who regards Himself as self-sufficient, 5 to him didst thou give thy whole attention, 6 And no blame is on you if he would not purify himself 7 but as for one who comes to you, eagerly 8 and who has fear of God, 9 you ignore him. 10 By no means! Verily it is an admonition. 11 and so, whoever is willing may remember Him 12 [It is recorded] in honored sheets, 13 Exalted, pure. 14 by the hands of scribes 15 noble and purified. 16 May man be slain – how ungrateful he is! 17 From what substance did He create him? 18 Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure, 19 then the way eased for him, 20 Then He caused him to die and made him to be buried. 21 then, when He wills, He raises him. 22 Indeed, he has not fulfilled that which He has ordered him. 23 Let the human being think about (how We produce) his food. 24 [how it is] that We pour down water, pouring it down abundantly; 25 Then We cracked the earth open under pressure (of germination) 26 We make the grain grow out of it, 27 grapes, vegetables, 28 and olive trees and date palms 29 And thick gardens, 30 fruits, and grass. 31 for you and for your herds to delight in. 32 But when there comes the Deafening Blast 33 on that Day a man shall flee from his own brother, 34 And his mother and his father, 35 his wife and his sons: 36 Everyone on that Day will have affairs to keep him occupied. 37 Some faces will shine, 38 Laughing and full of joy, 39 some faces on that day shall be dusty 40 Blackness will cover them: 41 those will be ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity. 42
