Said the Council of the people of Pharaoh, 'Surely this man is a cunning sorcerer 109 He intends to turn you out of your land. What counsel do you then give? 110 They said, "Postpone [the matter of] him and his brother and send among the cities gatherers 111 Who will bring you every learned magician." 112 So there came the sorcerers to Pharaoh: They said, "of course we shall have a (suitable) reward if we win!" 113 He said, 'Yes, indeed; and you shall be among the near-stationed.' 114 They said: "O Musa (Moses)! Either you throw (first), or shall we have the (first) throw?" 115 He said: cast ye. Then when they cast down, they enchanted the eyes of the people, and terrified them and brought mighty magic to bear. 116 And We inspired Moses (saying): Throw thy staff! And lo! it swallowed up their lying show. 117 ۞ So the truth was established, and abolished was what they were doing. 118 And Pharaoh and his people were overcome right there and became debased. 119 And the magicians flung themselves prostrate. 120 saying, "We declare our belief in the Lord of the Universe, 121 The Lord of Musa and Harun. 122 Said Pharaoh, 'You have believed in Him before I gave you leave. Surely this is a device you have devised in the city that you may expel its people from it. Now you shall know! 123 “I swear I will cut off your hands and your feet from alternate sides and then crucify you all.” 124 They said: verily unto our Lord we are turning. 125 And you do not take revenge on us except because we have believed in the communications of our Lord when they came to us! Our Lord: Pour out upon us patience and cause us to die in submission. 126
