At length when the messengers arrived among the adherents of Lut, 61 He said: Lo! ye are folk unknown (to me). 62 They said, "No, but we bring you news about what they disputed, 63 "Yet we bring to you the truth, and we are truthful. 64 "So leave with your family late in the night, yourself remaining in the rear, and let none turn back to look, and go where you will be commanded." 65 And We communicated to him the decree that by the morning those people will be totally destroyed. 66 The people of the town came along, revelling, 67 He said: "These are my guests, so do not disgrace me. 68 Fear Allah and do not disgrace me' 69 They said, “Had we not forbidden you from meddling in the affairs of anyone?” 70 [Lout (Lot)] said: "These (the girls of the nation) are my daughters (to marry lawfully), if you must act (so)." 71 By thy life, they wandered blindly in their dazzlement, 72 Therefore the scream overcame them at sunrise. 73 And We turned (the cities) upside down, and rained down on them brimstones hard as baked clay. 74 Indeed in that are signs for those who discern. 75 This (city) lies on a road that still survives. 76 surely in that is a sign for believers. 77 The dwellers of the Thicket were harmdoers. 78 So We took vengeance on them. Both are still there on the highway, plain for all to see. 79
