The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When there happeneth the Event. 1 Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. 2 Degrading (some) and exalting (others); 3 When the earth is shaken with a shaking [severe,] 4 and the mountains crumbled 5 so that they become as scattered dust 6 And ye shall be sorted out into three classes. 7 The people of the right hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their right hands. How happy they will be! 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 And the foremost in the race, the foremost in the race: 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 in the Gardens of Bliss. 12 A number of people from those of old, 13 And a few of the later peoples, 14 Seated on couches wrought in gold and encrusted with precious stones, 15 reclining upon them, set face to face, 16 immortal youths shall go about them 17 with goblets, and ewers, and cups filled with water from unsullied springs 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 And (there will be) Houris (fair females) with wide, lovely eyes (as wives for the pious), 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 As recompense for all they had done. 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 only the words of peace and tranquillity. 26 And those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 27 Among thorn-less lote-trees. 28 And banana-trees (with fruits), one above another. 29 and extended shade, 30 and waters gushing, 31 And fruits numberless, 32 never-ending and unrestricted, 33 And raised couches; 34 Verily We! We have created those maidens by a creation. 35 having resurrected them as virgins, 36 Beloved (by nature), equal in age,- 37 All this will be for the People on the Right; 38
