The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
56 verses, revealed in Mecca after Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil) before The Key (Al-Faatehah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
O you who covers himself [with a garment], 1 Arise, and warn. 2 Thy Lord magnify, 3 And your clothing purify 4 And uncleanliness avoid 5 And do not confer favor to acquire more 6 and persevere for your Lord's sake. 7 When the trumpet is sounded,. 8 So that is a tough day. 9 Far from easy for those without Faith. 10 Leave Me Alone (to deal) with whom I created Alone (without any means, i.e. Al-Walid bin Al-Mughirah Al-Makhzumi)! 11 whom I have endowed with abundant riches, 12 And sons present by his side. 13 I made things smooth and easy for him, 14 After all that he desires that I should give more; 15 Not at all! Surely, he has been disobedient to Our verses. 16 Soon will I visit him with a mount of calamities! 17 Behold, [when Our messages are conveyed to one who is bent on denying the truth,] he reflects and meditates [as to how to disprove them] 18 death seize him, how he determined! 19 Again, death seize him, how he determined! 20 Then he considered [again]; 21 then frowned and scowled; 22 then he retreated, and waxed proud. 23 and said: 'This is no more than traced sorcery; 24 “This is nothing but the speech of a man.” 25 I will cast him into the fire of Hell. 26 - Ah, what will convey unto thee what that burning is! - 27 It leaves naught nor does it spare aught. 28 It scorches the mortal. 29 Over it are appointed nineteen. 30 And We have appointed none but the angels to be wardens of the Fire. And their number we have made only a trial for those who disbelieve, so that those who are vouchsafed the Book may be convinced, and that those who believe may increase in faith, and that those who are vouchsafed the Book and the believers may not doubt, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the infidels may say: what meaneth Allah by this description! In this wise Allah sendeth astray whomsoever He will, and guideth whomsoever He will. And none knoweth the hosts of thy Lord but He. And it is naught but an admonition unto man. 31
