Has there come to you information about the honored guests of Ibrahim? 24 When they entered upon him, they said: Peace. Peace, said he, a strange people. 25 So he hurried to the house and brought a fatted calf, 26 And placed it near them; he said, "Will you not eat?" 27 (When they did not eat), He conceived a fear of them. They said, "Fear not," and they gave him glad tidings of a son endowed with knowledge. 28 His wife came out lamenting, striking her forehead, and said: "I, am old and barren woman?" 29 They said: "Even so says your Lord. Verily, He is the All-Wise, the All-Knower." 30 ۞ [Abraham] said, "Then what is your business [here], O messengers?" 31 They said: Surely we are sent to a guilty people, 32 So as to let loose clods of clay on them 33 “That are kept marked, with your Lord, for the transgressors.” 34 So We evacuated everyone who was a believer there, 35 – and We did not find there any, apart from a single house of Muslims – 36 and We left therein a sign for those who fear a painful punishment. 37 And also in Moses, when We sent him unto Pharaoh, with a clear authority, 38 and he turned away in [the pride of] his power and said, "A sorcerer [is this Moses,] or a madman!" 39 So We seized him and his hosts and cast them into the sea. Indeed, he was blameworthy. 40 There is another sign in the [tribe of] 'Ad, when We sent against them a life-destroying wind 41 It spared nothing that it reached, but blew it into broken spreads of rotten ruins. 42 There is also evidence (of the Truth) in the story of the Thamud, who were told to enjoy themselves for an appointed time. 43 But they insolently defied the Command of their Lord: So the stunning noise (of an earthquake) seized them, even while they were looking on. 44 So they were not able to stand, nor could they help themselves. 45 And the people of Nuh We destroyed aforetime; verily they were a people transgressing. 46
